Alice May (Spangler) Hoff

Alice May Spangler Hoff, 85, of Oxford, PA, formerly of Westminster, died Thursday, June 30, 2022, surrounded by family at the home of her daughter-in-law in New Windsor. Born July 27, 1936, in Union Mills, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ray Willet Spangler and Isabel Marie Flickinger Spangler. She was the loving wife to the late Donald P. Hoff, who passed in 1981; and current husband, Charlie Wichhart. 

She was a WHS graduate class of 1954. She was a member of the Bixler’s United Methodist Church, Bixler’s Ladies Aid and past trustee and past Farm Bureau of Carroll County. She enjoyed macrame chairs, crocheting afghans, and embroidery. 

Surviving are son, Douglas E. Hoff and wife Kim, of Palm Bay, FL; daughter-in-law, Joan W. Hoff, of New Windsor; stepsiblings, Mary Myers, Shirley Snyder, and Donald Spangler; grandchildren, April Regler, Aaron Hoff, Trevor Hoff, and Jessica Hykes; great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Chloe, Hannah and Caleb Hykes, and Austin and Brogan Hoff, and Colby Regler; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and Donald, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald P. Hoff, II, who passed in September 2020, and her brother, Raymond "Sonny" E. Spangler. 

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the Bixler’s United Methodist Church, 3372 Bixler Church Rd, Westminster, MD 21158. A funeral service will begin at 12 Noon with Pastor Darrell Layman officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
