June Atkins Obituary

June Ellen Atkins, 86, of Taneytown, MD died on Monday, February 15, 2021 at her home.  Born June 25, 1934 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William Lepinaitis and the late Reba Mae (Moore) Nichols.  She was the devoted wife of Charles D. Atkins, Sr.  He passed in April of 2010.

June worked as a secretary for several businesses over the years, including Montgomery Ward, Hanover Direct, and the family business, Pasadena Bus Company.  She enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking, going to the Taneytown Senior Center, and collecting Thomas Kincaid lighthouses, ceramic Santas, and gnomes.  More than anything, she loved spending time with her family.  

Surviving are children, Chuck Atkins (Lynne) of Winter Haven, FL, William Atkins of Taneytown, Cindy Beam (Gregory) of Taneytown, and Alan Atkins (Lori) of Winter Haven, FL; sister, Betty Espenschid (Dave) of PA; grandchildren, Danielle, Ryan (Meagan), and Alysia Atkins, Greg Beam (Brandy), Eric Beam (Leah), Christina Stambaugh (Andrew), Matthew Beam (Stephanie), and Christopher Beam; grandson-in-law, Craig Coker; great-grandchildren, Gaven, Landen, Paisley, Hailey, Jacob, Austin, Thomas, Savannah, Tony, Gregory III, Connor, and Adalyn; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by brothers, William Lepinaitis and Nicky Nichols, and grandchildren, Sarah (Atkins) Coker, and Andrew, Kevin, and Baby Beam.

A private service and burial will be held at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills, MD.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown, MD. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Dr., Memphis, TN, 38105.
