James Letroy Head

     James Letroy Head, age 84, of Taneytown, died on Thursday, March 7, 2024. Born February 17, 1940 in Madill, OK, he was the son of the late Vernon Wesley and Ruth (LaFlore) Head. He was the husband of Mary (Barron) Head.

     James was a gifted golfer, learning to play later in life. He was a talented bowler, excelled at softball, enjoyed playing cards, sweets, and Vietnamese food. James spent 35 wonderful years working at Goddard Space Flight Center and was an avid science fiction fan. James’ sense of humor was legendary. He was a giving person, but he most loved spending time with family and friends.

     Surviving is his wife Mary; sons, Eric Head, Matthew Head and Jimmy Nguyen; and cherished granddaughter Jordan Head. He was predeceased by his parents Vernon and Ruth.

     The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 10 am – 12 pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787. A funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Burial will be private at a later date.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to be made to the Humane Society of Carroll County, 2517 Littlestown Pike, Westminster, MD 21158.
