Romaine Koontz Obituary

Romaine Koontz, age 90 of Taneytown, died Saturday, June 25 at Lorien Assisted Living.   Born June 19, 1932 in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late Maurice Jesse Feeser and Catherine Theresa (Eckenrode) Feeser.  She was the devoted wife of Richard L. Koontz for 68 years and who preceded her in death by only three months.

A graduate of St. Joseph High School in Emmitsburg, Romaine enjoyed her youth as an avid roller skater at Rainbow Roller Rink—a landmark built by her father—and worked for local dairy bars, including Willow Farms in Frizzellburg and Feeser’s in Littlestown.  Later, Romaine worked at her parents’ Mt. View Motel in Emmitsburg.

Romaine was proud of her role as a homemaker and provided secure surroundings for Richard, their two children, and later in life a happy place for the two grandchildren  that she adored. She was a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and participated in the parish Sodality.

Romaine is survived by son, Michael R.  Koontz (Winnie) of Ellicott City, grandchildren Justin M. Koontz (Rachel) of Conifer, Colorado; Kathleen Levendusky-McDonough (Shawn) of Williamsburg, Virginia; son-in-law Ron Levendusky of Ellicott City; sister-in-law Shirley Shaffer of New Oxford, Pennsylvania; and two nephews, Randy and Todd Shaffer (Stephanie).  Romaine was predeceased by her daughter, Teresa Levendusky and her brother, Maurice H. Feeser.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday July 2, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in her name to the charity of their choice.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
